Children‘s Day-Care Centres, operating in Lithuania, can provide the necessary assisstance to hardly one third children from social risk families, in addition to this, often in rural areas, there are no Children‘s Day-Care Centres, so part of the children from disadvantaged families do not receive these services at all.

According to the data of Ministry of Social Security and Labour, Lithuania has at least 252 Children‘s Day-Care Centres, which were attended by almost 7 thousand children. A larger number of Children‘s Day-Care Centres is in the central and southern parts of Lithuania (Kaunas, Vilnius and Marijampole districts). According to the data of last year, there are almost 10 thousand disadvantaged families with more than 20 thousand minor children in Lithuania.

Aukštadvaris Children‘s Day-Care Centre “Navininkai“, together with Children‘s Temporary Care Home “Atsigręžk į vaikus“, Vilnius Jonas Ivaškevičius Youth School and Norwegian Children’s Socialization Care Organization “Boenheten As“ are implementing the project “Children‘s Day-Care Centre family empowerment services development“. Is is designed to implement efficient and qualified measures for Lithuanian risk group children and to increase their families welfare. During the project, Children‘s Day-Care Centre was established in Čižiūnai, and at the end of the year such a center is planned to be set up in Vilnius as well.

It is expected that Children‘s Day-Care Centre‘s educational events, trainings, new integrated family empowerment services will ensure the welfare of risk group children and their family members in educating future generations and providing necessary assisstance.

Aukštadvaris Children‘s Day-Care Centre, which is attended by 25 children from social risk group, every day invites to do homework, to have dinner together and to spend their leisure time together with social workers and teachers.
