Lithuanian College of Democracy (LDUK), founded in 1997, is a voluntary non-governmental scientific association, seeking to promote the ideas of democracy in society and social innovation. The College organizes seminars, develops projects for the promotion of democracy, civic education and development, carries out programs of public education, organizes public debates, prepares research papers and publications in a cooperation with Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences.

Children day care center “Navininkai“, founded in 2006 by Lithuanian College of Democracy, focus on complex services for children form social risk families.  “Navininkai” is located in a rural area – about 40 km from the capital Vilnius.

Activities held in children day care center “Navininkai“:
  • Intensive individual and group social work with children and families from risk groups;
  • Development of positive socialization programmes and prevention programmes;
  • Organizing educational and cultural activities (camps, visits);
  • Providing social help for children and families in order to ensure social security and well being of children.

Children day care center “Navininkai” has a long-standing experience in developing children’s social-life skills, organizing children leisure activities, encouraging positive socialization process. Children are motivated to be creative, active, and effective at work and various other activities. Undertaken afternoon breaks are full of diverse topics for children, they learn to discuss, express and justify their opinion, understand a friend’s right to have a different opinion, learn to communicate, formulate ideas, speak out loud and ask in confidence.

Children day care center “Navininkai” children are encouraged to participate in creative competitions at their local community, calendar events, concerts, celebrations. Respectively, it is developing an appropriate cooperation with a local library, schools, the regional park administration, municipality experts, VPU SKI students and lecturers. After taking a part in collective events, children obtain communication, relationship building, working in a team, organizational abilities, which unleash children’s organizational and creative skills.
